But this week we have a real reason to celebrate slumber – Sleep Awareness Week. The National Sleep Foundation is celebrating its annual sleep appreciation week. Everything from breathing exercises to your diet and the time you eat your meals can have an impact on your resting state. Being sleep experts, we can confirm a wind-down before bed is helpful, and being interior design experts, we can confirm it’s all about bedroom feng shui.
Explore the dark side, don’t shy away from using a dark wall colour in a bedroom; it can instantly make a space feel more intimate and cosy. Dark walls are also great for showing off a display of favourite objects – try a deep shade of blue as a backdrop to vintage lighting, antique prints and bric-a-brac.
A functional bedside table, your nightstand should be a hard-working multitasker with space for everything you need to make the night go smoothly – think a good book, notepad and glass of water. And as many clocks as it takes to get you out of bed in the morning! Who wants to be jumping out of bed every five minutes because there isn’t space for everything you need?
